dd/mm/yyyy, a film diary.

Currently, I think editing on a micro-level has never been better, and editing on a macro-level has never been worse. I leave it to you to decide why this is.

LITTLE CAESAR • D. Mervyn LeRoy • 1931

One of the first “talkies” and the first gangster film from the point of view of the gangsters.  Excellent.  Great performances from all involved.  Narrative might lack strength, and the cinematography is maybe a bit plain for the era, but these are made up with great lines like, “You can dish it out, but you can’t take it!”  “You’re through!” “What’s that got to do with the price of eggs!?”

And hey someone put the whole thing on the youtubes.
