dd/mm/yyyy, a film diary.

Currently, I think editing on a micro-level has never been better, and editing on a macro-level has never been worse. I leave it to you to decide why this is.

AN EDUCATION - Lone Scherfig - 2009 - Film Fest #06 (third this day!)

I really liked this film actually.  Two immediate reasons come to mind.  One, the script by Nick Hornby is fantastic.  Clean, crisp dialog is delivered in style by the stellar cast (especially Alfred Molina as Jenny’s dad).  Which leads me to point two — I couldn’t help but fall in love with lead actress Carey Mulligan.  How could you not!?  Her eyes!  Her smile!  Her confidence!  Damn.  You could really see how she would captivate the character played by Peter Sarsgaard.  I was spellbound indeed.  It’s funny how films can sometimes do that to you.  What goes on in our brains exactly?

This film made me want to live in the 60s pre-Beatles London and smoke cigarettes and listen to jazz records.
