dd/mm/yyyy, a film diary.

Currently, I think editing on a micro-level has never been better, and editing on a macro-level has never been worse. I leave it to you to decide why this is.

THE CLASS - Laurent Cantet - 2008 - Paramount Cinema

Winner of Cannes in 2008.  Shot like a doco, but is in fact scripted from lead actor’s own book.  Perhaps a bit long, but still an excellent film about a teacher in Paris and his class of 14 and 15 year olds.  All the kids use their real names on screen, so it makes me think that a lot of the classroom scenes were only loosely scripted.  Most of the film takes place in the classroom itself, which gave it a claustrophobic feel.  Pretty awesome.
